CURRICULUM VITAE

Mihalis Papadakis was born in Athens in 1944. At the age of 14, urged by M. Tompros, he took part in the examinations for the Superior School of Fine Arts, as an exceptional talent, in 1958. He graduated the Superior School of Fine Arts in 1962.

 

1960-1964

Works, periodically, for the restoration of antiquities in Olympia, in Delos and at the board of curators of antiquities in Cyclades.

1967-1968

Postgraduate studies at the NATIONAL SUPERIOR SCHOOL OF FINE ARTS, in Paris.

1968-1969

Workshops of postgraduate level at SIR JOHN CASS ART COLLEGE, in London.


1969-1987

Gets involved in politics and abstains from all artistic activity.

1988-1989

Becomes member of the Committee for Classification and Evaluation of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece (CFAG).

1988, 1989

Represents the CFAG at the first and second International Meetings of Fine Arts, which were organized by the European Cultural Centre of Delfi.

1990-1992

Becomes member of the Administrative Board of CFAG

1992-1994

Becomes General Secretary of the Administrative Board of CFAG

1992-1995

Represents the CFAG and is General Secretary of the Inter-association for Radio and TV.

1996-2000

General Secretary of the Administrative Board of CFAG.

2000-2006

President of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece (CFAG).

2002

Elaboration and submission of proposal for a European project aiming at the founding of a Research Centre for Fine Arts (focusing on the relation of Fine Arts with science and art in general), on the island of Samothraki, in cooperation with the Municipality of Samothraki.

In the framework of the Programme, establishment of the Park of Balkan Art, where the biannual Inter-Balkan Symposium will develop research characteristics.

2003-2005

Responsible for the Programme on the design of the site of the CFAG and the elaboration of a DVD about theoretical aspects of the art of Fine Arts.

2004-2017

Member of the Administrative Board of the National Museum of Modern Art (Athens), representing the CFAG.

2000

Member of the initiative for the reestablishment of the International Artists Association (IAA) and responsible for the organisation of the 15th General Assembly of the International Artists Association

2002

Elected as Honorary President of the International Artists Association at its 15th General Assembly.

2004

Vice president of the ΙΑΑ Europe.

2005

Representative of the CFAG at the 16 th general Assembly of IAA, in China and speaker at meetings in the context of the 2 nd Biennale in Peking.

Panhellenic Exhibition of Fine Arts and 5 meetings, in the context of the exhibition (Athens, Tehnopolis 2001).

Panhellenic Exhibition of Young Artists (Tehnopolis, September-October 2002).

 

Mihalis Papadakis has participated in the Panhellenic Exhibitions held in 1966 and in 1987, in the Panhellenic Exhibition held in 1997 (organized by the CFAG, in the context of the "Thessaloniki, the Cultural Capital of Europe"), in the Group Exhibition of Modern Greek Sculpture 2004 (Athens, Art City) and in a great number of other group exhibitions.

From 1993 to 2000 he has organized, in his atelier, small group and personal exhibitions, under the title «Like in the Atelier», accompanied by theoretical discussion.

His works are found in many private collections and in public places.
